November 23, 1962 > Maury Wills is voted the National League's Most Valuable Player. The Los Angeles shortstop batted .299 and scored 130 runs, but also set a single-season record with 104 steals. Wills narrowly edges Willie Mays, who led the league with 49 home runs, by a final tally of 209 points to 202.
